Make Your Own Blanket | DIY Project

YAYYY!! This is my first post in my DIY project series, so I thought I would make it something relatively simple.
TIE BLANKETS.
I know, they are super simple to make. But not everyone knows how to make them, so I thought I would do a blog post on how to make this simple, yet cosy blanket. I have made 4 in the past month, so you could say I am a little obsessed with them.

What you will need:
1. 2 different colors of Fleece material - I get mine from Hobby Lobby, but you can get fleece from tons of different places for relatively cheap. As you can see I have a plain pink fleece, and then a green fleece with flowers and ladybugs. I like to get a plain color on the back, with a patterned front, but you can do whatever you like! I also usually get about two yards, but for this blog post the blanket I am making is only one yard, because it is for my 2 year old niece.
2. Fabric Scissors
YES... That is really all you will need. Like I said it is extremely simple.

FIRST, you want to place your two pieces of fleece on top of each other. Usually one piece is cut slightly bigger than the other, so lay the bigger piece on the bottom, like the picture to the right. Then what you want to do is to cut some off where needs be so it looks like the picture on the left. It doesn't need to be perfect, just roughly the same width and length.

NEXT, you want to cut the corners off. I usually do about 3 inches by 3 inches, This is so that when you do the tie part, it doesn't go all weird and bunchy at the corners. When you are done it should look something like the pictures above.

After this you want to cut 3 inch strips about an inch and a half apart. I just do this free handed and kind of guestimate. If you want to do it perfectly you can, but honestly when you tie it together it looks good regardless. It should look something like the picture above when the whole blanket has been cut.

When you have cut your strips out, you then want to tie your strips. I do two knots so that they stay together. The first picture is one knot, the second picture is double knotted. So it should look something like the picture above when you have started to tie the knots! You do not need to tie them super tight, but if you want to then go for it! BEWARE... It does take a bit of patience to tie all of the knots but it is totally worth it.

After you have finished tieing each strip together, YOU ARE DONE. It is seriously that easy? And the blankets look amazing when they are done!
I hope you enjoyed my first DIY Project. I know it was extremely simple, but it is something I love to make! I hope you enjoy making them if you do after reading this post. Tag me or comment below your pictures if you do decide to make one, I would love to see it!!

Beauty Favorites | March 2016

As you can probably tell from the proportion of beauty posts, compared to food, lifestyle etc, they are my favorite to write about. So i thought it would be fun, for my last post in March, (well technically now April) to do a favorites post, about the products I have been hooked on this month. I have tried to narrow it down to products I discovered this month, that I constantly reach for and love.

(All products are linked if you are interested in purchasing any of them)

This is probably my favorite out of all of the products I am going to take about. It is the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in the shade Rose Julep. if you know me, you know I cannot wear lipsticks because my lips are SO SO SO DRY. I also have an addiction to chap stick, so I can't wear anything that makes my lips feel dry, or get in the way of me applying chap-stick. I KNOW IT IS WEIRD I HATE IT... But this is the first lip product I have used that actually works for me. It feels super moist on my lips, and stays kind of sticky (I know this may annoy some people), but I love that feeling on my lips. The particular shade I love, just works so nicely on my lips, adding a bit of color and gloss to them, enhancing my natural lips. And... If that isn't enough it smells like mint... It is a winner in my books and I cannot recommend it enough.

I have always had a deep love for Makeup Geek Eye shadows, so I thought it was about time I added a few more to my collection. I bought a few new colors this month, but two that particular stand out to me are peaches and cream, and Houdini. Peaches and cream is the perfect transition shade for someone like me, who is super super pale. If you aren't super pale it would be perfect for all over the lid to set your primer, or if you are darker it would also be perfect in the crease or as an inner corner highlighter. I probably reach for peaches and cream more than Houdini, but Houdini is seriously my favorite, I could stare at it all day. it is a foiled shadow, so a little more expensive that regular, but this color and the pigmentation is TO DIE FOR.

THIS PRODUCT HAS CHANGED MY SKIN. It is the Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser. It is so so so so so good, and makes me skin feel unbelievably clean. It was a little more pricey than any other cleanser I have used before, but BOY IS IT WORTH IT. What is great is that a little goes a long way and I really feel like it has helped my skin. It also is great for taking off makeup. So an all round great product if you are in the market for a new cleanser, or makeup remover.

In my first post I talked about how I love Hoola bronzer, I STILL DO DON'T WORRY. But I love the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer as well. First of all, it smells like chocolate, so really what more persuasion do you need? What I love is how light it is, which is perfect for my fair skin because it gives me a natural bronze look, when I am not wearing any foundation. It also is super pigmented, and really easy to blend and just natural and is definitely up there with Hoola Bronzer.
My last favorite of the month is the E34 Tapered Blush by Morphe Brushes. If you aren't already aware I am a huge fan of Morphe, and their brushes are amazing quality and like half the price of MAC and other expensive brushes. What I use this particular brush for is blending out my bronzer, and it works perfectly and makes my bronzer look FLAWLESS. I 100% recommend Morphe brushes, each one I have tried so far has been FABULOUS.

I hope you enjoyed this monthly favorite post. If you would be interested in seeing favorites every month then let me know in the comments below.

If you have gotten this far, YOU ROCK! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog, I really really appreciate it. I appreciate all your comments, and would love to hear from you! Remember if you are new, to follow and check out my social media links!

The Liebster Awards | 11 Question Bloggers Tag

I have been nominated for the Liebstar Award! A big, big thank you to BeautyBe Blogger, for nominating me!!

What is the Liebstar Award? The Libestar Award was created to recognize, promote and welcome new bloggers to the blogging community.
What are the rules of the Liebstar Award? The rules are pretty simple:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, including a link to their blog.
2. Include the Liebster Award sticker
3. Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you.
4. Nominate 5 other blogs who have less than 500 Blog followers.
5. Ask them 11 new questions.

Here’s my answers to BeautyBe Bloggers' questions:
1. Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to write, writing is a big passion of mine. I also have a passion for all things Beauty, food, DIY projects etc, so thought it would be fun to share those things with the world! I also have gotten really big into watching YouTube videos and reading blogs, and kept finding myself wishing I could start a YouTube Channel, or have my own blog. So I decided why not start now rather than later. And here I am!! I

2. If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
This is tough, because I have so so so many favorite foods. If it had to be just one food I would probably pick potatoes... HOW CLICHE OF ME. But seriously, you can have potatoes so many different ways, so I wouldn't get bored as easily. And also potatoes are my favorite... If it could be one meal, it would be my favorite meal of all time; Roast Chicken, Gravy, Roast Potatoes, Stuffing and Butternut Squash made by my Mum!!!

3. Favorite color?

I am the most indecisive person, so it's ironic that I don't have one favorite color. But if I had to choose it would be either; yellow, burgundy, purple or turquoise.

4. Favorite makeup product?

My favorite makeup product has to be eyeshadow. I have a weakness for eyeshadow, and specifically Makeup Geek shadows. Eyeshadow is my favorite part of my makeup routine, as there is so much choice and so many fun looks you can do. And makeup geek is my favorite eyeshadows because they are so reasonably priced, and such high quality.

5. If you had the opportunity to create your own bloggers' tag, what would it be?

I would probably create a tag based around makeup, for makeup bloggers. I think I would do something like the famous "Would You Rather" game with a twist. So the questions would be beauty based. I think it would be a fun game to play for beauty lovers!

6. How did it feel when you launched your blog for the first time?

It felt so amazing because I had spent so much time making my blog the way I wanted it, I was excited to finally let people see it. I was super proud of how my blog looked and so I felt proud that I had finally done something I wanted, regardless of what people around me would think!

7. What are your hobbies?

Does eating count as a hobby.... But seriously. I also love to read, and I am sad that I haven't done as much reading as I should since moving to America. Some other hobbies of mine are cooking, shopping, watching movies, playing board games, hanging out with loved ones, doing my makeup or my friends makeup, and doing fun DIY projects.

8. Celebrity crush?

HOW CAN I PICK JUST ONE. It has to be either Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum or Zac Efron...

9. What animal would describe your personality and why?

I think a dog, and specifically a maltipoo. My dog is a maltipoo and he loves to lounge about, like myself. He also gets mad when people try to eat his food, this also describes me pretty well lol...

10. Favorite film?

My favorite film has to be Pitch Perfect, both the first and second one. I honestly could watch both of these movies one million times. They are AMAZING.

11. Would you rather eat a pot of worms or crawl into a hole filled with spiders?

Amm... Can i choose neither?? lol Because both of these things would be my worst nightmare. The thought of either of these makes me feel sick or gives me the shivers. But probably eat the worms....

The 5 Bloggers I nominate are:
5. Roisin Giles - Roisin's Latest

My 11 questions:

1. What are 3 tips that you would tell a new blogger?
2. If you were given $1000 right now, what would you do with it?
3. What are your 4 holy grail makeup or skincare products?
4. List 3 things on your bucket list.
5. What's one thing you never leave the home without?
6. What pushes you to keep blogging?
7. Which would you choose to give up if you had to; makeup, hair products or your bed?
8. What is something you would tell your 12 year old self?
9. How do you manage your time with blogging?
10. Bath or shower?
11. What is your dream holiday location?

If you have gotten this far, YOU ROCK! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog, I really really appreciate it. I appreciate all your comments, and would love to hear from you! Remember if you are new, to follow and check out my social media links!

Morphe 35O | Nail or Fail?

So I decided to come up with a new series for my blog, it's kind of like "hot or not", that you may have seen if you watch YouTube or read blogs. However I decided to come up with my own version, called "Nail or Fail", depending on if they nailed (good) the product, or if the product was a fail (bad).

For the first Nail or Fail I decided I would do the Morphe 35O palette, because there is a big hype with this product at the minute.

Morphe Brushes is a high end brand, but with more affordable pricing.
I was a little skeptical before buying it because it is pretty cheap and has a ton of eye shadows, and usually palettes that have a lot of eye shadows usually are not so good quality. BUT THE QUALITY IS AMAZING and it only costs $22.99 for 35 eye shadows, which is a steal!!! (That is like 65 cents an eye shadow)

They sell tons of palettes like this with different colors, but this palette in particular is AMAZING. I love, love, love, warm orange, brown, reddish tones for my eye looks. I find it suits me more than cool tones do, and so this palette is AMAZING if you are into warm tones. Also, all the colors are super pigmented, so creamy and extremely easy to blend.

Just in case you aren't already convinced, I decided to do some swatches of the palette for you to see the range of colors, and to see how pigmented they are.

This is the first horizontal row. It contains more of the light colors from the palette, and includes the most amazing, dark foiled like gold that is perfect for all over the lid.

This is the second horizontal row. It contains some really great matte shades, which are all perfect for the crease or all over the lid. My personal favorite is the orange, it is perfect for adding warmth to the crease and just an all over amazing color.

This is the third horizontal row. This row has a ton of great, great colors. The first and the fourth color are perfect for the crease, and adding some dimension to the look. The second color is a lot cooler than the rest of the colors in the palette so perfect if you don't want a super orangey toned look. My personal favorites in this row are the last two, both are so pigmented and just are right up my street.

This is the fourth horizontal row. It contains lots of warm brown shades, pretty much like the whole palette lol. This row is a lot darker, so it is perfect for darkening the crease, or for dark smokey eyes or just adding darkness to the outer V of your eye!

This is the last horizontal row. It contains more dark browns, and two foiled like shadows at the end. The last one on the right is another one of favorite in the whole palette, and looks absolutely amazing all  over the lid. IT'S AMAZING.

All in All, this palette is definitely worth the money. Morphe NAILED with the 35O palette. As you can see the colors are extremely pigmented. If the colors aren't your style they have other palettes you might like more that you should definitely try out. It is a great way to build your eye shadow collection with a range of mattes, shimmers and foiled like shadows.
It is definitely one of my favorite palettes and there is such a wide variety of looks you can do, from natural, to more night time appropriate looks. Definitely check it out!

If you have any requests for other products you would like to see in the Nail or Fail series, definitely comment or contact me and let me know and I will be more than happy to do that!

Please remember to follow my blog, it is super easy and you can do it on your laptop, and on your phone if you click on desktop version and it would mean so much to me.
If you have gotten this far, YOU ROCK! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog, I really really appreciate it. Because this is one of my first blog posts, please bear with the quality of things and hopefully with time I will improve and create better quality content.

Love,

Jessica Ann xx

Where Do I See Myself In 5 Years? | Personal Post

I know, this is somewhat different from my regular posts, but I wanted to incorporate more lifestyle posts into my blog. I have realized how much I love to write, so lifestyle blogs give me more of a chance to do that. Also it makes my blog more personal, which is always a good thing right?
Plus I guess by writing this I am making my goals public, and if I don't follow through with them in 5 years, you can remind me of this post...

So, where do I see myself in five years?

Well I guess firstly I see myself married, couldn't leave that one out since I am getting married this May. And let me add happily to that, so I see myself happily married. (Any excuse to post another engagement picture)

Most likely I will be living in the United States and working towards becoming an American citizen. For those of you who didn't know, I am a British citizen, but I live in the United States on a student visa. So I guess that leads to my next "goal", to graduate from Brigham Young University in either Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, I am still figuring that out. In the hopes to become a teacher (obviously lol).

As well as graduating from BYU, I really really want to start taking some Beauty courses, specifically Make-up ones but other courses as well. Whether that means going to beauty school part time or by doing random classes here and there, I haven't quite decided yet. Make-up, is a very recent love of mine and I think it's important to do something you love and are passionate about. I want to improve on my skills, so that I can create better beauty posts and so that I can become better at something that I love doing. It is seriously my dream to be a freelance make-up artist, or to pursue something in the beauty industry.

I also hope to still be doing my blog, and loving it. Hopefully in regards to that my followers will have grown and my blog will have reached out to more people.  Remember to follow my blog!! I also would love to start YouTube, (I know how cliche of me lol) but I'm just not quite there yet. If you know me, I am obsessed with YouTube and watching beauty videos, and recently I have started to think about potentially doing it myself. But for now I want to focus on my blog, and maybe when it grows then I will think about YouTube.

In relation to my blog, I want to get more into photography because I feel like that is something I need to get better at. I am already working towards that, by saving to purchase an actual good camera. Then I guess practice makes perfect, so I want to spend time practicing and getting advice from my cousin, who is a photographer (she did my engagement pics), because getting help from someone you know makes life a little easier.

I see myself more travelled in 5 years, but who knows because flying back home at least once a year doesn't give Trent and I much time to travel anywhere else, or much money. I would at least like to visit a few more States, and spend some time in Florida (MY FAVORITE PLACE ON THE EARTH, besides home) And maybe add a few more European countries to our list, whenever we visit home.

All in all, I hope to be extremely happy, wherever I live, in a career I love whatever that might be. I hope to be pursuing my dreams, and being the best possible version of myself. And I hope the same for you :)

Please remember to follow my blog, it is super easy and you can do it on your laptop, and on your phone if you click on the web version and it would mean so much to me.

If you have gotten this far, YOU ROCK! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog, I really really appreciate it. And I hope you enjoyed getting to know me more, and hearing some of my goals for the future.
